Description
27 Master Prompts. One Whodunit That Holds Up Under a Re-Read.
Non-Cozy Mystery Master Prompt Pack is a complete, copy-paste prompt system for writing publish-ready crime fiction in any of the six non-cozy subgenres — police procedural, hard-boiled PI, psychological mystery, legal/courtroom, noir, and serious amateur sleuth (non-cozy). 22 core prompts in 6 phases plus an optional Romance Subplot Module (5 bonus prompts). Powered by the Clue Disclosure Engine, the same architectural discipline that powers the Mystery Outline Builder and Mystery Author plugins.
This is NOT the Cozy Mystery pack — this is for stories with on-page violence, real-world consequences, and morally weighted endings.
What’s Inside
- Phase 1 — Choose Your Whodunit (4 prompts): subgenre selector, trope and element calibrator, violence and tone calibrator, and The Clue Disclosure Engine
- Phase 2 — Build Your World (3 prompts): setting and jurisdiction generator, detective and lead character builder, and the victim and the crime
- Phase 3 — Architect Your Story (3 prompts): suspect web builder, red herring architecture, and escalation blueprint
- Phase 4 — Blueprint Your Book (2 prompts): the whodunit arc mapper and the chapter-by-chapter outline
- Phase 5 — Write Your Book (5 prompts): voice calibration with subgenre exercises, plus four chapter-writing blocks covering the entire manuscript
- Phase 6 — Polish, Validate, and Publish (5 prompts): genre-specific revision pass, beta reader gut check, targeted revision, Amazon metadata, and series architecture
- Phase 7 — Romance Subplot Module (OPTIONAL) (5 prompts): if your book has a love interest thread, this module integrates it without derailing the investigation
The Clue Disclosure Engine
Every clue moves through four explicit states tagged to specific chapters: planted, noticed, evaluated, resolved. Every red herring moves through three: introduced, investigated, eliminated — with a credible eliminating fact the reader sees on the page. Every named suspect is resolved. The killer appears by 25-30% and recurs throughout. No new evidence at the reveal. This is the architectural discipline that produces whodunits readers can re-read and watch the planted clues land in real time.
Six Subgenres, One System
The pack auto-calibrates to your chosen tradition:
- Police procedural — institutional, team-based, third close, justice-leaning
- Hard-boiled PI — first person, episodic, outsider, ambivalent ending
- Psychological mystery — deep interior, controlled unreliability, often ambiguous
- Legal / courtroom — calendar-driven, ethics-forward, verdict-shaped
- Noir — atmospheric, doom-laden, descent rather than redemption
- Amateur sleuth (non-cozy) — personal stakes, outsider position, real-world consequences
What You Can Do With This Pack
Copy and paste each prompt into your AI of choice — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any tool that accepts text prompts. Each prompt is structured to give your AI a specific role, specific instructions, and a structured output format. The prompts build on each other: outputs from earlier prompts feed into later ones, so by the time you reach Phase 5, the AI has a complete world, character bible, suspect web, clue schedule, and chapter outline to work from.
Pairs With
- Mystery Outline Builder plugin — interactive outlining inside Claude Cowork with the Clue Disclosure System
- Mystery Author plugin — writes the full manuscript from your outline, CDS enforced at the prose level
- Thriller and Suspense Master Prompt Pack
- Psychological Horror Master Prompt Pack
What’s Different From the Cozy Mystery Pack
The Cozy Mystery pack is for amateur-sleuth small-town stories with closed-door violence and restorative endings. This pack is for novels where the body is on the page, the violence has weight, the protagonist pays a real cost, and the ending does not restore the world to the way it was. Different reader, different shelf, different book.
Format
Professional PDF — 70+ pages, cover, table of contents, genre rules cheat sheet, all 27 prompts with phase banners and styled prompt boxes, and a closing page. Print it, read it on screen, paste from it.
