Description
Your Thriller Shouldn’t Forget It’s Also a Love Story
The Romantic Suspense Author is a Claude plugin that writes complete, publication-ready romantic suspense manuscripts from a finished outline. It applies a 5-rule guardrail system to every single chapter — preventing AI’s #1 failure in romantic suspense: letting the romance and suspense threads run in parallel instead of interlocking so tightly that removing either one collapses the story.
The Genre Problem
When AI writes romantic suspense prose, two things break. First, the interlock dissolves — the romance scenes become “danger vacations” where characters forget they’re being hunted, and the action sequences become “solo hero” stretches where one character handles the threat while the other waits. Second, the tension architecture flatlines — instead of the romance making the suspense more dangerous and the suspense making the romance more urgent, both threads just… happen. Side by side. Independently.
The Threat-Bond Interlock System
This plugin embeds a 5-rule guardrail applied after every single chapter — not a one-time check, but continuous enforcement against the specific way AI degrades romantic suspense:
- Causal Crossover: Every major romance beat creates a suspense consequence. Every major suspense beat creates a romantic consequence. The kiss that reveals their location. The interrogation that forces vulnerability. If either thread can be deleted without affecting the other, the chapter gets rewritten.
- Vulnerability Escalation: As the romance deepens, each character’s exposure to the threat increases. Love creates liability. The vulnerability curve must trend upward — tracked and enforced chapter by chapter.
- Trust Under Pressure: Trust between the leads is tested by the suspense plot, not just the relationship. Secrets kept for protection. Information shared under duress. Every trust milestone happens under threat conditions.
- Antagonist Awareness: The antagonist recognizes and exploits the romantic connection. They weaponize the bond. If the villain ignores the romance, the interlock is broken and the scene gets reworked.
- Clock Compression: The suspense timeline compresses the romance timeline. The threat forces accelerated intimacy — is this real or just adrenaline? The ticking clock makes every romantic choice feel urgent AND questionable.
What It Prevents
- The “Danger Vacation”: Romance scenes where characters forget they’re being hunted — no consequences, no tension bleed-through
- The “Solo Hero”: Suspense sequences where one character handles the threat while the other waits at home
- Flat Vulnerability: Falling in love that doesn’t increase danger — the bond should be exploitable and the antagonist should know it
- Ignorant Antagonists: Villains who conveniently fail to notice or leverage the romantic connection
- Slow-Burn Under Fire: Characters taking six dates to kiss when someone is actively trying to kill them
