The Urban Fantasy Outline Builder is an interactive AI skill for Claude Desktop that asks what you want — protagonist role, city, magic system, faction politics, case structure, tone — then builds a complete, publishable urban fantasy outline with a magic system bible, city bible, faction political map, case architecture, and chapter-by-chapter mundane/magical balance tracking.

This skill builds outlines where the protagonist already LIVES in the supernatural world — and the outline tracks that integration at every level.

How It Works

Step 1: Answer 9 setup questions. The skill asks what YOU want through popup-style multiple choice — one question at a time.

1. Protagonist Role — Supernatural Detective/PI, Bounty Hunter, Law Enforcement, Bar/Business Owner, Assassin, Government Agent, Healer, Freelance Magic User, Creature Passing as Human, Academy Student
2. City Setting — Real city (hidden or known supernatural), fictional city, or small town
3. Magic System — Hard (clear rules, defined costs), soft (mysterious), hybrid, or no personal magic
4. Supernatural Politics — Faction-heavy, two-sided, anarchic, bureaucratic, or hidden war
5. Case/Job Structure — Single case, case + series arc, multiple connecting cases, or no case structure
6. Romance Subplot — Slow burn across series, contained in this book, none, or complicated existing
7. Relationship Configuration (if romance) — M/F, M/M, F/F, Why Choose standard RH, Why Choose poly (any configuration — MMFMF, FFMM, whatever you want), ménage/throuple, or custom
8. Tone — Noir/hardboiled, action-adventure, cozy/light UF, or dark/horror-adjacent
9. Series Position — Standalone, Book 1, or continuation
10. Length — Novella (20k), standard novel (60-80k), or extended (90-110k)

Step 2: The skill builds your outline across 13 interactive steps — story concepts, character bios, magic system, city, factions, case architecture, and a chapter outline — with approval checkpoints at every stage.

What the Outline Includes

10 documents by the time you’re done:

1. Story Concept & Pitch — hook, tagline (in your protagonist’s voice), case premise, comp titles
2. Protagonist Bio — 18 fields including voice style, signature humor, magic/abilities with costs, weapons/gear, faction affiliations, and the line they walk
3. Love Interest Bio(s) — 15 fields each. For why-choose/poly: individual bios plus group roles, inter-LI dynamics, and a group formation timeline tracked across the outline
4. Magic System Bible — how it works, the cost, hard limits, protagonist’s abilities, countermeasures, the rule that will break
5. City Bible — mundane layer, supernatural layer, 5-8 key locations, protagonist’s territory, danger zones, sensory anchors
6. Faction Map — 3-5 factions with leaders, territories, power sources, and a political web showing alliances, conflicts, and the fragile peace
7. Case Architecture — inciting incident, surface problem vs. real problem, 5-8 key clues, red herrings, escalation, resolution
8. Supporting Cast — 5-8 characters with faction affiliations, reliability ratings, and what they know that matters
9. Mundane/Magical Balance Map — mundane threads, integration points per act, the mundane anchor character
10. Chapter Outline — 14 fields per chapter including case advancement, world integration check, magic use & cost, faction beat, and voice moment
11. Series Arc Seeds — the bigger threat, unresolved faction tension, personal mystery, relationship thread
