The Problem This Solves

AI knows who the killer is from the moment you give it an outline. That creates a fundamental problem: it writes backward from the answer instead of forward from the mystery. The killer gets more suspicious descriptions. The sleuth “notices” things too early. Red herrings feel half-hearted. The reveal falls flat because the reader saw it coming from Chapter 3.

The Cozy Mystery Author’s Outline Adherence System fixes this with six enforceable rules:

• Chapter-Locked Writing — Each chapter is written ONLY from what the sleuth knows at that point. No future knowledge leaks into the prose.
• Equal Suspect Treatment — The killer receives no more narrative attention, suspicious language, or “something felt off” moments than any other suspect.
• No Backward Writing — No scenes that only make sense if you already know the ending. No loaded descriptions. No dramatic irony before the outline calls for it.
• Clue Planting by Schedule — Clues appear exactly when the outline says — not earlier as “subtle hints” and not later because the AI got distracted.
• Red Herrings with Conviction — Every false trail is written as if it IS the real answer. The reader should genuinely believe each red herring could be the killer.
• Reveal Integrity — The reveal scene uses ONLY information already on-page. No new evidence. No convenient confessions. The sleuth connects dots the reader already has.

Seven interactive questions before any writing begins:

1. Subgenre — Paranormal, traditional, culinary, craft, or pet cozy
2. Romance — Slow-burn romance thread woven through the mystery, or pure mystery
3. Heat Level — Sweet/clean (closed door) or mild spice (tasteful open door)
4. Length — Novella (~20,000 words / 16 chapters) or full novel (~50,000 words / 30 chapters)
5. Series Position — Standalone, first in a series, or continuing a series (with continuity from your previous books)
6. Style Guide — Upload 1-2 previous manuscripts and the AI builds a custom voice profile matching YOUR writing style
7. Outline — Upload your own outline (from the Cozy Mystery Outline Builder or anywhere else), or have one generated and approved before writing begins

The Style Guide Feature

This is how you get a manuscript that sounds like YOU wrote it, not like AI generated it. Upload one or two of your previous books and the skill reads them cover to cover, extracting:

• Your narrator’s voice and tone — formal vs casual, humor style, internal monologue rhythm
• Your dialogue patterns — contractions, banter style, dialogue tags vs action beats
• Your pacing — short punchy chapters vs longer immersive ones, scene transition style
• Your description style — sparse and functional vs rich and atmospheric
• Your mystery craft — how you plant clues, how subtle vs obvious your approach is
• Your comfort elements — how food, drink, and cozy scenes are integrated with plot

The style guide is saved as a separate file you can reuse across future books. Every chapter is written against it and checked for voice consistency.
